MIAMI, FL, May 30, 2008 – The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce today announced the winners of its 2008 South Florida Good To Great Awards during a luncheon at the Chamber’s annual Goals Conference at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa, A Marriott Resort. The regional award program honors companies based in South Florida that embody ideas from Jim Collins’ best selling business book, “Good to Great.” It was created by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, with regional partners Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber Commerce and Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce.
The 2008 South Florida Good To Great Awards winners (by category) are:
While the context of the award is based on the Jim Collins book, the award criteria have been localized to reflect the realities of the marketplace. Three area universities, one representing each South Florida County -- Florida Atlantic University, Florida International University and Nova Southeastern University -- crafted the judging criteria and determined the award process with committee input. Judging was based on the applicant’s ability to demonstrate a pattern of solid to great performance over a four-year period. Companies were also to demonstrate their ability to develop talent and a strong leadership team.
The Chamber also recognized the following finalists: Avisena, Inc.; Bertram Yacht; Burger King Corporation; CareersUSA; Investor Solutions; NEO; and RCC Associates. The award program featured a keynote address by Howard Schnellenberger, head football coach of Florida Atlantic University.
