Elgin Polo to Lead The Miami-Downtown Chapter FICPA

MIAMI – Elgin Polo, Certified Public Accountant, partner in the Litigation Support Department at nationally recognized public accounting firm Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, LLP (MBAF), was recently elected President of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) Miami-Downtown Chapter. In his new role, Polo is responsible for all chapter operations, including conducting meetings, appointing chapter committee chairs/members and coordinating activities for the chapter among other things.
The Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, founded in 1905, serves as the association for all CPAs certified in the state. The association has more than 19,000 members, includes 27 local chapters and is known as one of the largest CPA organizations in the U.S. According to their website, in 2009, the Miami-Downtown chapter had more than 500 members.

A CPA in Florida and New York, Polo is a certified valuation analyst, accredited in business valuation and a Supreme Court certified family mediator. His experience in civil litigation includes lost profit analysis, business valuations, settlement negotiations, purchase and sale of a business and shareholder disputes. He supports and provides business and accounting guidance in the areas of property management, real estate investments and professional services.
Polo is an active member of many professional organizations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, the FICPA and the FICPA Business Valuation and Forensic & Litigation Services Section. Additionally, he is an adjunct professor in accounting at Florida International University. And in his 13 years of experience, Polo has been honored for the past five years as a Top CPA in Litigation Support by the South Florida Legal Guide.
