Kashyap Bakhai, CPA/ABV/CFF, M.S.T., is a principal in the Tax and Accounting Department and is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He heads the Sports and Entertainment Group at MBAF.  Kashyap has been in practice since 1985 and has represented numerous large and mid-size family owned businesses, professional athletes and entertainers, estates and trusts, broker-dealers and funds, telecommunication companies, real estate investors, wholesalers/distributors, international clients, automotive dealerships, community banks and restaurant franchises.

He combines his technical tax knowledge with his broad business experience to meet the unique needs of each client.  He services the clients in a proactive and concerned manner. He has successfully represented numerous clients against the Internal Revenue Service and various state agencies.  Kashyap is experienced in taxation of investment management firms, broker-dealers, mutual funds, private equity funds and community banks. He has consulted and provided forensic and expert testimony in the music industry and  athlete financial matters, trust, estate and fiduciary accounting matters.  He is Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Since 1996, Kashyap has provided business valuations analysis for large and mid-size businesses, investment partnerships and other business entities. He has been hired by the IRS as an expert in business valuations cases. His experience also includes numerous due diligence projects both from the buy and sell side as well as assisting clients in identifying prospective business and growth opportunities.

Kashyap is regarded in the professional community as one of the best tax minds in South Florida, having lectured and written extensively about complex tax matters. In addition, Kashyap has written on such topics as the tax benefits of LLCs, year-end tax planning, qualified Subchapter S subsidiaries, business valuation, international taxation and tax issues facing professional athletes and entertainers.
