Kashyap D. Bakhai of Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Company was named an Up and Comers Award Finalist by The South Florida Business Journal

MIAMI, FL - Kashyap D. Bakhai, CPA, a shareholder at Miami-based accounting and management consulting firm Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Company, was recently selected as a finalist for the South Florida Business Journal's Up and Comers Award.

Presented by the Florida International University College of Business Administration, the Up and Comers Award is designed to recognize South Florida business and civic leaders, under the age of 40, who have achieved outstanding success in a variety of professions.

"I am honored to have been considered among my peers as a finalist for this prestigious award," said Bakhai. "My work throughout the years has been personally rewarding, and I am proud to be included with such a diverse and talented group of people."

Regarded in the professional community as one of the best tax minds in South Florida, Bakhai leads the Tax Department at MBA. He is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and has held several leadership roles within the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Bakhai was previously honored by the Miami-Dade Chapter of the FICPA with the Outstanding Committee Member Award and the Distinguished Service Award for Committee Services.

In addition to his professional achievements, Bakhai is a dedicated community leader. Most recently his efforts have been focused on raising relief funds for the victims of the earthquake that struck his native India in January 2001. Bakhai has raised $10,000 for the South Florida Hindu Temple Earthquake Relief Fund through donations from employees, friends and clients of Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Company.

Bakhai volunteers much of his time as a board member of the Wellness Community Foundation of Miami-Dade County and the Association of Performing Arts of India, while also serving on the South Florida Hindu Temple Audit Committee.

Bakhai received a B.S. in commerce from the University of Bombay, India, an M.S. in accounting from the State University of New York and an M.S. in taxation from Florida International University. He is also accredited in business valuations (ABV) by the AICPA.
