Miami - April 15, 2007 - Last night, Tony Argiz, managing partner of Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra (MBAF), served as chairman of the Miami Coalition of Christians and Jews' (MCCJ) 55^th Annual Humanitarian Awards Gala. The ceremony, held each year, honors local leaders who have contributed to furthering the organization's goals of diversity, inclusion and social justice.

This year's honorees included the esteemed Alvah H. Chapman, Jr., former chairman of Knight Ridder, who received the MCCJ Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition to being known for his exceptional business career, Chapman is also credited for his advocacy and leadership in "We Will Rebuild" hurricane relief efforts and in developing the Community Partnership Homeless Trust.

Also recognized for their charitable involvement in the community, Patricia and Dr. Phillip Frost, Sister Jeanne O'Laughlin, Larry Handfield, Esq. and Francisco Angones, Esq. received the prestigious MCCJ Silver Medallion for Humanitarianism for their long service and contributions to the Greater Miami community. Sister Jeanne is a pioneering educator who built Barry College into a major private university while dramatically expanding scholarships to support a more inclusive student body.
