MIAMI - August 29, 2005 - Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, LLP (MBAF), the leading Florida-based accounting and management consulting firm, has joined with CPAmerica International, one of the world's largest networks of independent certified public accountants and consulting firms, to form a national Sarbanes-Oxley team. The new team, to be led by G. Trevor Foo, a senior accountant at MBAF, will provide consulting services for CPAmerica member firms whose clients are publicly held companies and continue to struggle with Section 404 provisions of the act. The section revolves around the critical role of internal management over financial reporting and the importance of ethical conduct and trustworthy information in the preparation of financial statements delivered to investors.
The announcement was made by Tony Argiz, managing partner of MBAF. According to Argiz, the significant rise in Sarbanes Oxley audits, which occurred as key provisions of the act took effect in 2004, resulted in a surge of auditing business for MBAF, resulting in the firm being named the largest regional audit practice in the Southeast with $337 million in total sales audited.
"Through the CPAmerica strategic alliance, and under the leadership of Trevor Foo, MBAF will be able to use its breadth of experience in Sarbanes-Oxley issues to serve a wide range of industries, both domestic and international, by developing the necessary compliance plans that will help corporations in all aspects of internal control," said Argiz. "We are also looking into providing services for smaller companies and the non-profit sector as they are continuing to come under the scope of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance."
Under Foo's direction, the new CPAmerica Sarbanes-Oxley team will reach 70 large, closely integrated CPA firms and their clients across the United States and, through CPAmerica's strategic alliance with Horwath International, more than 15,000 professionals in nearly 90 countries around the world. Foo also adds that the implications for mid-sized and smaller companies, as well as the not-for-profit sector, may also warrant close review and possible change in the ways these organizations do business.
Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, LLP (MBAF), the largest regional audit firm in Miami and one of the Top 50 nationally, has an impeccable reputation for providing accounting, litigation and business valuation support, technology and management consulting services to a wide variety of individuals and corporations across a broad range of industries.
