Alvin Lloyd Brown, CPA, is a founding partner of Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra in 1969.
He headed up the firm's Tax Department for nearly 30 years, until his retirement in November 1998. Alvin remains active with the firm today in his role as Of Counsel.
During his career, Alvin was recognized by Money Magazine as "one of the best tax practitioners in the United States" and as an "Outstanding Discussion Leader" by the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Alvin is the recipient of the 2007 Neal J. Menachem Memorial Award by the Miami-Dade/Broward County State of Israel Bonds.
He has written and lectured extensively on technical matters including corporate liquidations, subchapter S corporations, and tax shelters, as well as on the direction of the CPA profession.
In addition, Alvin served as chair of the South Dade Branch Board of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and is currently on the Professional Advisory Committee of the Foundation of Jewish Philanthropies, as well as co-chair of the Professions Division for the State of Israel Bonds Campaign. Alvin is also credited with creating one of the largest continuing professional education seminars for CPAs under the auspices of the Greater Miami Israel Bonds Organization, which is now in its twenty-first year.
He is a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and its Consultation Committee (Tax), as well as the Tax Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Litigation Support Institute.
Alvin served honorably with the United States Coast Guard from 1952 - 1955 as RM3, USCG 297-343.
A graduate of the University of Miami with a bachelor's degree in business administration, Alvin also completed graduate studies in taxation.
