Miami – December 23, 2005 – Michael O’Rourke, a partner in the litigation support department of leading Florida-based accounting and management consulting firm, Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, LLP (MBAF), was recently recognized as a finalist in the litigation support category of the Excellence in Accounting Awards given by the South Florida Business Journal. The awards, which acknowledge distinction in the field of accounting services, are given annually by the regional business publication.
O’Rourke is a court-approved expert in the accounting aspects of commercial litigation and Chapter 11 bankruptcy. He brings specialized knowledge to each case, gained from 20 years of dealing with financially complex issues that arise during a business dispute or investigation. He has worked in a broad range of industries that include automotive, financial services, health care, manufacturing and real estate. In addition, O’Rourke provides valuation services for clients involved in business and stock valuations, business damage appraisals, merger and acquisition appraisals, purchase/sale appraisals, gift and estate tax appraisals and ESOP appraisals among others.
Active in professional organizations, O’Rourke is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Public Accountants, where he formerly served as chairman of the Accounting Principles and Auditing Standards Committee and as president of the Miami-Downtown chapter. He is also a member of the National Institute of Certified Valuation Analysts, the American Society of Appraisers, the Institute of Business Appraisers and sits on the board of directors for the Planned Giving Council of Broward County. O’Rourke holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Herbert H. Lehman College of the City University of New York.
