Miguel G. Farra, CPA, JD, is the partner-in-charge of the Tax and Accounting Department of Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, LLP. Miguel is an internationally recognized tax expert, author and television commentator.
As head of the Tax Department at MBAF, Miguel is responsible for overseeing the firm's team of domestic and international tax professionals and ensuring the quality of tax planning, counsel and compliance provided to MBAF clients.
Miguel has almost three decades of tax and accounting experience. His industry specializations include automotive retail and rentals, aviation, e-commerce technology, manufacturing, hospitality, real estate, and healthcare.
In addition, Miguel is a respected forensic accountant and a valuable member of the firm's litigation support team. Miguel's litigation support experience includes investigative accounting on numerous tax fraud cases, as well as serving as an expert witness on real estate commercial litigation cases.
A certified public accountant and an attorney, Miguel is a member of the AICPA, the FICPA, the American Bar Association, and the Florida Bar Association and its Tax Section. He is a qualified expert with the United States Tax Court, Miami-Dade County Circuit Court, and the Broward County Circuit Court.
Miguel has been honored by the South Florida Business Journal with the 2006 Excellence in Accounting Award in the international tax category and by the 2006 South Florida Legal Guide as one of the TOP CPAs in Litigation Support.
Miguel serves on the President's Council of the University of Miami and has served on the boards of trustees for the Palmer School, the Miami Museum of Science, Informed Families of Dade County and the U.S. Cuba Democracy PAC. A dedicated child advocate, Miguel was chairman of the Children's Foundation of Greater Miami and a member of the board of directors for the Children's Home Society of Florida, as well as president and treasurer of Dade Partners for Safe Neighborhoods.
Miguel earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami where he also graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
