Firm History

We first opened our doors in downtown Miami in 1969 with a staff of 12. In four years, the firm had grown to almost 20 employees and moved to South Miami. At the time, we focused primarily on general accounting, tax consulting and auditing services.

For nearly two decades, MBAF continued to grow while establishing an impeccable reputation in the South Florida business community.

In 1990, with 40 employees, we began to formalize specialty practice groups, including our nationally acclaimed Automotive Dealership Division, in order to better meet client needs and to optimize our knowledge base.

That decade also saw MBAF expand operations outside Florida through the opening of our office in Denver, Colorado, which later moved to Boulder. Meanwhile, the firm's burgeoning headquarters were relocated to our current home in the Miami financial district of Brickell.

In addition to our physical expansions, MBAF established a Computer and Information Services Division in response to the growing demand for technology solutions that generated business results. This division is now Solutions@MBAF, LLC, a thriving technology consultancy that has been honored as a Tech Pacesetter by the national industry publication Accounting Today, received the 2004 Blackbaud Service Award and the 2004 General Electric Consumer Finance Most Valuable Performer.

By 2000, MBAF had become a regional powerhouse with nearly 100 CPAs and consultants. As one of the largest independent accounting firms in the Southeast, MBAF was also home to the largest staff of professionals Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. As a result, the firm's Litigation Support Services & Business Valuation practice gained prominence both domestically and internationally.

With the opening of our Fort Lauderdale office in 2002, MBAF embarked on a push north to expand services and accessibility throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties. These efforts were accelerated when MBAF joined forces the following year with Peed, Koross & Finkelstein, P.A., a prominent CPA and consulting firm located in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale.

In 2006, the reputable firm of Freeman, Buczyner & Gero joined MBAF, bringing  further expertise in tax and accounting followed shortly in early 2007 by Silver & Associates  based in Orlando, Florida.

In 2007, the firm opened a new office in Mizner Park in Boca Raton led by Marjorie A. Horwin to further expand MBAF's presence in Palm Beach County and across the state, particularly strengthening our services in the Private Wealth Services Group.

In addition, MBAF has opened an office in Baltimore, Maryland, led by Marc S. Dickler, CPA, with particular expertise in audits of automobile dealerships.

Finally, our national award-winning technology affiliate, Solutions@MBAF, LLC,  has grown exponentially providing computer assurance, accounting & information systems, business process automation, and network & communications as well as  the launching of PaperSave®, a document imaging and storing system which is marketed in cooperation with Microsoft, Blackbaud, and QuickBooks in addition to custom tailor implementations.

Today Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra has 29 partners and a professional staff of more than 200 CPAs, business advisors and technology consultants. Honored as one of America's best performing independent accounting firms for 12 years by Inside Public Accounting, we offer a complete portfolio of services that goes far beyond traditional accounting. augmenting our technical expertise in tax, audit, litigation support, and technology consulting.

While MBAF has experienced many changes in the firm's 39-year history, our philosophy and goals remain the same, to serve our clients earnestly, with concern for their best interests, consistent with our responsibilities to the public.
